New Literacies and Media
Description
ECI 546 taught me about various media and technology tools that can be applied to literacy instruction to further engage students in learning tasks. I was then able to use what I learned in this class in the rest of my coursework as well as my teaching.
Sub-Question: How can students use Web 2.0 tools to improve research, literacy, and social studies skills and gain an appreciation of the diversity within our class?
Answer:
Students researched their birthplaces, then pinpointed them on Google Maps along with a description. They analyzed absolute and relative location and read each other's pinpoints to learn about different parts of the world. This prompted engaging discussions about culture, traditions, and heritage.
